„We separate, limit and bring into a human scale part of unlimited space.“
(Gerrit Rietveld, 1954)
Studio2 is dedicated to one of the central tasks of architecture: the investigation, development, and design of experiential spaces for people, and the associated architectural interventions. The research focus is the theme of „Human and Space“: the perception and effect of space and its material and immaterial qualities. This includes concept and context, designed form, character and atmosphere, materiality, color, and light. Philosophy, art, natural sciences, and social sciences are the reference disciplines for our interdisciplinary approach.
„Attitude is everything“
Architecture is a matter of attitude, of approach toward the community and its resources. It is both a form of thought and a form of action, not just object form. In order to reach new architectural forms, one must reconsider concepts and contexts, revise and reorder structures and strategies. Architecture thus becomes the ordering form, the framework for life, which remains open to the needs and actions of its users, serving them without confining them to outdated schemes.
The Spatialization of Society – Various Research Topics
In the fields of education, upbringing, and social care, a fundamental shaping of our understanding of space and structure takes place. The spaces that a child experiences remain formative for their later experiences. Therefore, spaces for education, upbringing, and care represent an opportunity to improve quality of life and arrive at a renewed and sensory formulation of the built environment.
Thinking About Space
The multidimensional, multidisciplinary aspects of space are addressed through experimental, artistic projects.
